I dont want to die in Bruges, but this movie makes it close. I really really liked this movie. Perhaps a little slow, for some of us, and perhaps too many f***k words. But so beautifull 'contrasting' persons, with so much entertaining humor and that in a gr8 place like, where is it, Bruges... See it, and not only in Bruges, everwhere on the planet. OSCARS.....

Yes, the trailer is misleading. It's a comforting thought to me, though, that the trailer was entirely Universal's choice rather than Martin McDonagh's. Universal isn't very smart about he campaigning for this film in general, in my humble opinion.

It stands out to me that everyone who says they hated the film, talks about the profanity. It's clear to me that in that case you weren't paying attention to the story at all, if you were you would see it's deep. There's a lot of moral hidden behind the profanity - and if you weren't so shallow as to be turned off by language, you would see the value of this film. But it's your loss - if you're so easily upset or offended that's your right, but you'll miss out because of it. I'm of African descent and I wasn't offended. Comedy should be allowed and I refuse to stoop to a level where people can't even express themselves because God forbid someone ends up offended. Not on my account.

I saw the trailer when I saw sweeny Todd and then when we decided to go see In Bruges, I was aprehensive. When i left I was spellbound. It was by far one of the best films I have ever seen. The use of music, humor, and the development of each character truly makes you transcend into their places. I wanted to see it again but it left abruptly. I was one that instantly went home and plugged in Itunes and downloaded the soundtrack. Brilliant! You all must see this film!

It is true that the ad for the movie is misleading. It was not what I was expecting, but I loved it. I am one of those "older" people (age 50), but if I left quietly, it was because I was in a spell and didn't want the enchantment broken. The movie is both funny and deeply moving. The music is beautiful and adds alot to the movie. I went right out and ordered the soundtrack. This is definitely one of the best movies I've seen in some time.

However, what I liked was the fact that it was both darker AND funnier than the trailer suggested. Truly, this was one of the best films I've seen in years. Then again, I am a Dubliner and understand Dublin wit. I trust that the anti-American jibes didn't offend you?

I laughed more in the first 15 minutes than I would if I sat through all of Will Ferrell's 'comedy' films contiguously, and even the final voiceover of Farrell's character had me LOL.

Here is why this film will ultimately fail at the box office. The marketing concept portrays the film as a light hearted comedy of errors with friendly, bumbling characters, but hidden is the fact that it is a bloody, gruesome tale of mayhem and gore. The people I saw in the audience were unsuspecting older folk, who thought this would be a pleasant afternoon out while revisiting old memories of past vacations, but they found out that it was a violent nightmare up in their faces. The audience I saw walk out after the movie didn't look entertained; they looked haggard. I was very disappointed myself and for the same reasons. I agree with the guy below me. This movie needs a bigger release. Its amazing. I've been trying to take my friends to it, but they refuse to go all the way down to the art cinema to see it.

Well, I finally found a theater that was playing the film in Philly and just got back from seeing it... It really blew me away. What's astounding is McDonagh's capacity to transcend crass humor to get to what is the soul of these characters. And it was more than helped along by the haunting piano theme.

If you're going to see this film for comedy, don't be expecting a whole lot more than what you see in the trailers. If, on the other hand, you want to prepare yourself for thoughtful contemplation, then this film provides the perfect premise.

This film defies categorization in a single genre. And if I had my pick, comedy wouldn't be it. But, really, I have come out with something more than I expected, and this is certainly something I will be purchasing for my DVD collection.

I have been to Brugges and it is a beautiful town and I loved it. When I seen an add showing the release for your movie I watched the trailer and decided I really want to see this movie. Yes it is in Atlanta downtown, but that is to far for me to go when is your movie going to be released everywhere or at least in DVD. I really want to see this movie.

I saw this film in Albany (NY) on Sunday, Feb. 17. I had seen the trailer at a showing of "Atonement" and figured it would be weeks or months until it played in "Smalbany." I guess it's in very limited release right now and that's a shame, given that it's one of the best movies I've see in months. What an amazing piece of film-making. The humor is sly, the dialogue sharp and the locations breath-taking. And, yes, Colin Ferrell actually does some great work here. My only complaint is that this movie will spoil Bruges the way "Sideways" spoiled California's Central Coast.

I totally understand what you are saying. I adore Colin because he's a good person and a great actor, but I can't appreciate his opinion on Bruges, either.

I was in Bruges at the time of the filming, in fact I was on the set. This is how I know he's a good guy. He really is. But like you said; when he was there, everyone felt like he was just 'one of us' and he was appreciating us and the city as much as we did him and the city. We had the time of our lives, we had so much fun, and we were under the silly impression that the efforts we made to make Colin as comfortable as possible could make a difference. Turns out everyone had fun but Colin. It's a little ungrateful to say that in international press when you know people in Bruges were bending over backwards to please you.

I saw Collin Farrell on David Letterman tonight (2/8/08) on a promo for this movie Bruges) cannot wait to see only because I lived in Bruges (or Brugger as the Dutch calll it) for over 2years. It is the most beautiful and fascinating and fabulous city in there is. Mr. Farell did not have anything good to say about Bruges and in fact insuinated that it was "boring" and "dull." It is anything but. Shame on him. What an asshole to have made a movie in the most beautiful city there is and lived there for 6 months and then trash the cityn and people who probably loved him as a compadre. He was so insincere in his promo for the film that it makes me siick. Did he ever go to the Lake of Love and see the swans.? I think someone else should do your promos for this file because he made me more than mad, he made me sick to my stomach to see someone speak about a city that is soooo amazing that one should always be in awe if having the chance to experience it. I really want to see this movie. I was in Brugges last year, and loved it! My only complaint is that it is not opening in my area. Was in Bruge with my hubby in September (a day break from Paris) and absolutely loved it. If I can't get back, I hope to revisit it in the film which opens in Toronto today.

Being a long time fan of Brugge (it’s in the Flemish area of Belgium) I love it! Sleepy little town full of American tourists. Some of the shots should have been moved a few K up the road to Ipre (Wipers)….. 2 Million dead what more a bit of show!

I saw a special screening of this in LA. A good movie until the third act. Then it completely falls apart. Actions are unmotivated, there's no consistency, and everything's just a little too convenient. This is shoddy filmmaking by a great playwright.
