President Obama on Harvey Milk
A few weeks ago, I wrote on the FilmInFocus blog about President Obama's decision to honor Harvey Milk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Today, the U.S. president awarded the highest civilian accolade to the late politician, and below is the video of what he had to say, courtesy of our friends at Talking Points Memo.
I love the fact that he paraphrased Milk's catchphrase, "My name is Harvey Milk and I'm here to recruit you!" as well as his saying about hope, an emotion Obama himself has inspired in many.
